New CraftersThe 32nd Annual Aiken’s Makin’ is just around the corner, and attendees will see the work of 72 new artisans, who will be joining veteran artisans, to bring the total number of exhibitors to 168.   With this and 28 food vendors, the popular arts and crafts festival will have something to delight every taste from the simple to the most discerning.

“This show is ever evolving.  If you think you’ve seen Aiken’s Makin’, think again.  With 72 new exhibitors, there’s no telling what interesting and unique items you may find,” said J. David Jameson, president and CEO of the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce.

“I’m excited,” said Co-chair Liz Neal, Regency Hospice.  “I’m a natural born shopper, and the show will have some terrific shopping choices for everyone.  I suggest you come downtown on Friday and Saturday, so you don’t miss any of the spectacular arts and crafts.  The 32nd Aiken’s Makin’ is going to give ‘shop ‘til you drop’ a whole new meaning,” Neal said.

Co-chair Tim Conway, Aiken Art & Custom Framing, agreed.  “We had a record number of applicants this year, which speaks well of the event’s regional popularity.  The rigorous examination process of every application helps to ensure a variety of arts and crafts while continuing to improve quality each year,” Conway said.

In addition to arts and crafts, festival goers will have a variety of food and beverages choices.  From all American hamburgers and hot dogs to Greek and Caribbean selections, and from old fashioned soda to home made ice cream, there will be something for everyone.

A few layout changes will provide improved traffic flow and better exposure for exhibitors and vendors.  “Every year we review the previous year’s show and then work with numerous entities to see where we can enhance the Aiken’s Makin’ experience for everyone,” Neal said.
